Emmanuel is an experienced local and international lawyer with key industry focus and credentials in economics and government and public affairs. He was a Principal in Manila of Baker & McKenzie International’s Member Firm, where he specialized for 25 years in Litigation, Dispute Resolution, and Arbitration. He was an economist of the National Economic and Development Authority, Provincial Board Member of the Province of Oriental Mindoro, and Deputy Legal Counsel and Presidential Assistant of Legislative Affairs of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines.

Work and Industry Experience

Emmanuel was a Principal and  Management Committee Member in the Manila Member Firm of Baker & McKenzie International* and member of its regional and global Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration practice group. He was a Registered Foreign Lawyer in Hongkong, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Member of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration. He advised and represented leading domestic and multinational corporations in various industries, including energy, minerals and infrastructure, manufacturing, banking, and maritime. Emmanuel is an appointed arbitrator and chairman of arbitral tribunals in commercial arbitrations in the Philippines. 

 

Emmanuel has broad experience in public governance. He served as an Economist of the National Economic and Development Authority; Provincial Board Member of the Province of Oriental Mindoro; Deputy Legal Counsel, Presidential Assistant of Legislative Affairs; National Director and Special Adviser on Constitutional Reforms of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines; and Legal Advisor to the Philippine 17th Congress' Chairman of the Committee on Justice and representative to the Judicial and Bar Council.
